How to Choose the Right iCarsoft Scanner: CR Series vs Single-Make vs MT

iCarsoft's line-up is organised around who you are and what you work on. Picking the right family first makes the rest of the decision easy.

The three families

FamilyBest forCoverage
CR series (e.g. CR Ultra, CR MAX, CR Eagle)Workshops & serious DIYersAll systems, many makes, bidirectional + service functions
Single-make seriesOwners of one brandDeep coverage of a single manufacturer at a lower cost
MT seriesMotorcycle riders & shopsPowersports / motorcycle diagnostics

Choose the CR series if…

  • You service more than one brand, or want headroom for the future.
  • You need bidirectional control and service functions (oil reset, EPB, SAS, battery registration).
  • You want all-system coverage — engine, transmission, ABS, SRS, body and more — not just engine codes.

The CR Ultra and CR MAX sit at the top for breadth; the CR Eagle line targets value without giving up all-system access. Browse them in the product range.

Choose a single-make tool if…

  • You only own (or only work on) one brand such as BMW, Mercedes, VAG, Land Rover or Toyota.
  • You want the deepest coverage of that brand for the lowest outlay.

This is the most cost-effective route for a one-marque household. See the trade-offs in make-specific vs all-system scanners.

Choose the MT series if…

You work on motorcycles and powersports vehicles, where car-focused tools simply do not have the coverage.

Still unsure?

Match the tool to the widest range of vehicles you realistically expect to service, then confirm it lists the protocols (CAN-FD, DoIP) and service functions you need. When in doubt, buying one tier up is cheaper than buying twice. Questions about a specific model? Contact our team or find an authorized dealer.
